Kate Middleton braves cold, wears Scout scarf during public visit
The Duchess of Cambridge
braved the freezing cold and donned a Scout scarf during a public visit
to the Great Tower Scout Camp in Cumbria recently (March 22).
The 31-year-old Duchess wore a khaki coat, denim jeans, a red, navy and
white scarf and a pair of £300 Le Chameau wellies as she spoke with
volunteers in the Lake District during a blizzard.
Kate was also taught how to make unleavened bread before attempting to
cook it over a campfire with other volunteers. She later joked: "You're
welcome to try some."
The young royal then tasted it herself and added: "Oh, it's actually not bad. If you were desperately hungry."It's quite sugary."
director of the Scouts Simon Carter said of Kate's visit: "We currently
have 35,000 young people across the UK who can't join up because we
don't have enough adult volunteer leaders.
"The reason we value the Duchess's support is that even though she is very busy she helps out when she can. "We want to say to people you don't have to come every week, come when you can and we will make a job round you."
